Marie A. OHara (nee Andrus) passed away March 5 after a short illness. Wife of the late Thomas P. OHara. Mother of Shaun (Theresa) OHara, Michele (Greg) Duffy, Patrick (Patricia) OHara and Megan (Michael) Petkewec. Grandmother of Bridget, Mark, Michaella, Braden, Kaitlin, Lauren and the late Brian. Marie is also predeceased by loving companion Raymond Heyward.. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday, March 15 at noon at St. Stephens Church, 2100 Baseline Rd., Grand Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Island Golden Age Center, the Grand Island Library or the Glaucoma Foundation.

Bruce F. Sims, Jr.

Husband of the late Suzanne Sims. Father of Elizabeth (Cecil) Williams and Hazel (Russell) Polka. Grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 13. Bruce was predeceased by parents Frederick and Vera Sims and siblings Jean (Roy) Burton, Laurie Sims, Harry Sims, Joan (Stanley) Kutlina and Robert (Donna) Sims and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Bruce worked 30 years at the General Motors Tonawanda plant until retiring in 1989. He was a long time resident of Grand Island and an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Bruce loved his koi pond, tending to and landscaping and in ground swimming pool as well as horse back riding, roller skating and dancing. Bruces favorite place to dine was the Beach House restaurant. He enjoyed viewing the river from his front porch and would baby birds hatch and take flight each spring. Bruce was a veteran of the Korean War. He was awarded four medals for service from 10/15/1951 through 10/29/1953 as a Private First Class. Bruce was a member of the VFW on Grand Island and attended St. Martins in the Field Parish. Friends may call Tuseday, March 11 from 11-1 with a Funeral Service a 1 PM at Kaiser Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VFW post 9429 and Auxillary, Grand Island or another veterans cause of your choice.

Patrick James Hehir

Patrick James Hehir, born December 27,1963 in Buffalo NY. He was sent to his eternal home on March 1, 2025 in Grand Island NY after a long illness. Pat, as he was affectionately known, was a light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended but for the way he lived and the profound impact it had on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Patrick is survived by his loving wife Karianne (Nelligan) Hehir, his brother Rob Hehir, and sisters Helen Farrell and Kathleen Light. He also leaves behind two children Cristie (Robert) Mokhiber, Jeffery (Bridgette) Raby, his pride and joy six grandchildren; Robert and Hayleigh Mokhiber, and Jayson, Jordan, Blake, and Jaxson Raby, and several loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Winifred (Shea) Hehir. After graduation from West Seneca West, Patrick went on to serve our state at Attica Correctional Facility where he retired after 30 years of serving in 2017. Outside of work Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family, long drives on his motorcycle, boating, hunting, and fishing. Those who knew Patrick will remember his overwhelming laughter, and his rare gift for making people smile and laugh especially with his story telling skills. The celebration of life service to honor Patrick James Hehir will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Js White Elephant in Lackawanna at 1 pm. Matthew Michael Dlugosz

Of Grand Island passed suddenly on February 21, 2015. Born July 22, 1984, he was beloved by his family for his sense of humor, strength, resiliency, and good heart. Survived by his parents Michael and Frances (Swanson) Dlugosz, his siblings Kate (Steven) Doermer and Brett (Coryn) Dlugosz, his niece Savannah and nephew Luke, and countless extended family and friends. He is reunited with his brother Andrew, who passed in 2006. Matt will be remembered for his animated storytelling, his avid and tumultuous relationship with the Buffalo Bills, and living a passionate life with his whole heart. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday February 26, 2025 at 11am at St. Stephens RC Church, 2100 Baseline Rd., Grand Island.
