John R. Tripi, Jr.

Tripi, John Russel, Jr., age 64, of Grand Island, left Earth to be with his creator on April 17, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his beloved children Jordan (Jon) Pulaski, Dominic and Destiney, Branden and Bryanna, his mother Celeste, his siblings Celeste (Mark) Angelo, Kevin, Keith and his nieces, nephews, and grandson Loki. John was the owner and operator of J.R. Building & Remodeling for 46 years. His family and his work were his entire life. It is with a heavy heart of adoration and love that we send him on his way. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday April 30 at 9:30 AM at St. Stevens Church 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island. Flowers are welcome.

Eugene J. Hasselbeck

Hasselbeck, Eugene J., April 15, 2022, of Grand Island, New York and Sanibel Island, Florida. Loving husband of 64 years of the late JoAnn (nee Daigler) Hasselbeck. Father of Amy (Gary) Goudelock, Todd (Barbara) Hasselbeck, Laurie (Stanley) Miller and Jon (Yolande) Hasselbeck. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and nieces Lynn Daigler, Katherine and Sheila Flanagan. Brother of the late Marjorie Flanagan. Friends may call Friday, April 29, 4-8 PM at the Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island. Gene enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 and served in the Pacific during WW II on the destroyer USS Tucker, where he earned the nickname "Old Gunner". Returning to Buffalo after the war, Gene graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Electrical Engineering. An avid skier, Gene was a founding member of Sitzmarker Ski Club in Colden, where he and his family enjoyed winter weekends. Gene spent over 40 years growing and managing the Raymond E. Kelley Company in Bowmansville, where he retired as President & CEO. Gene lived a full, active life to the end, and leaves a wonderful legacy. He and JoAnn spent many happy winters on Sanibel Island where they built a second close community of friends. He loved to travel, and with JoAnn visited many friends, children and grandchildren across the country in their motorhomes. Gene greeted everyone by name, always made time to talk and let folks know they were important to him. David L. Zelonis

David L. Zelonis, Dave or “Z”, a much loved son and brother, passed suddenly April 4, 2022 at the age of 65. Dave is survived by his mother, Louise Zelonis, his sisters, Laureen (Doug) Hess, Lynn (Dave) Mikulski, and  nephews; Cody, Tucker, and Ben Hess,  Quinn, Travis, and Jack Mikulski. His father, Lawrence Zelonis, passed in 2013. Dave had a love of music and possessed an amazing knowledge of artists and their bands. He played guitar, bowled, and enjoyed cruising on his boat in the Niagara River and Lake Erie.  In years past he golfed with his father. Dave had many good memories of times spent with family and friends, including the crazy family poker games. Dave loved growing up on Grand Island.

Thomas C. Lepenven

Thomas C. Lepenven, DMD, 54 of Grand Island NY and formerly Brockton MA sadly passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was the loving father to his two beautiful girls Lindsey and Allisen Lepenven. He is also survived by his loving cousin Patty Bell of Hyannis MA. He was the son of the late Patricia (Brown) Lepenven. Tom had a dental practice in Niagara Falls and Grand Island for over 25 years where he and his office manager Holly Cutler Edmister took pride in all their patients. Besides spending time with his girls, Tom loved the outdoors and being part of nature. Friends may call Friday, April 8 from 5-7 PM at Kaiser Funeral Home, 1950 Whitehaven Rd. Grand Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
